Sónar Calling GJ273b is a Sónar initiative in collaboration with IEEC and METI.


Sónar is the International Festival devoted to Music, Creativity and Technology which takes place during three days and two nights everyJune in Barcelona since 1994. Sónar is a pioneering cultural event with a unique format and content. Positioned at the cutting edge of the electronic music landscape and it's interactions with digital culture, the festival is able to unite established artists with emerging talent, in all areas of musical and audiovisual production. Sónar's founding values have defined the festival since its inception: the link between creativity and technology, its commitment to being a global event and a meeting point for creative people from different disciplines and communities.

The IEEC is the Catalan research institute that studies all areas of space and space sciences, including Earth as a planet, the Solar System, exoplanets, stellar physics, physics of astroparticles, and cosmology. The IEEC carries out projects for the discovery of habitable planets, supports the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI, SETI @ home and BOINC) for more than a decade, and hosts the web SETI.cat.

METI is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization based in San Francisco, which was founded in 2015. In addition to transmitting intentional signals to other star systems, METI supports the development of a global network of optical SETI observatories, and it advances basic research in astrobiology.
